What does fair use really mean for writers? From quotations and epigraphs to parody, inspiration, and intertextuality, literary creators regularly draw on existing works, but the line between lawful fair use and copyright infringement can be unclear. Featuring Greg Victoroff, Esq., this practical webinar breaks down the basics of U.S. fair use law specifically for literary writers and authors, using real-world examples to explain what kinds of borrowing are generally permitted, what requires permission, and where the gray areas lie. The program will also address how writers can protect their own work from improper use by others, offering practical guidance to help novelists, poets, essayists, journalists, and emerging writers create confidently while understanding their rights and boundaries.
