California Lawyers for the Arts is proud to present the eighth annual bi-national symposium, INTERSECTIONS: Art and Law at the Border. With a focus on the geo-political context of the Tijuana-San Diego region, the intention of this gathering is to highlight artists, activists, lawyers, scholars, and researchers whose work navigates the intersection of art, praxis and legal issues.

This year, we reflect on the power of art to shape social movements, challenge injustice, and imagine new possibilities across borders. Centering the San Diego–Tijuana region as both a site of tension and creative exchange, the symposium explores how artists and cultural workers respond to systems of law while illuminating pathways toward more just and compassionate futures. Through workshops, conversations, and collaborative dialogue, we consider how creative practice can offer resilience, solidarity, and even joy in times marked by hardship and pain. We invite communities on both sides of the border to come together in this shared space of learning, reflection, and collective visioning.

California Lawyers for the Arts se enorgullece en presentar el octavo simposio binacional anual, INTERSECTIONS: Arte y Derecho en la Frontera. Con un enfoque en el contexto geopolítico de la región Tijuana–San Diego, el objetivo de este encuentro es destacar a artistas, activistas, abogados, académicos e investigadores cuyo trabajo transita la intersección entre el arte, la praxis y los asuntos legales.

Este año, reflexionamos sobre el poder del arte para dar forma a los movimientos sociales, desafiar la injusticia e imaginar nuevas posibilidades a través de las fronteras. Al situar la región San Diego–Tijuana como un espacio tanto de tensión como de intercambio creativo, el simposio explora cómo los artistas y trabajadores culturales responden a los sistemas legales, al mismo tiempo que iluminan caminos hacia futuros más justos y compasivos.

A través de talleres, conversaciones y diálogo colaborativo, consideramos cómo la práctica creativa puede ofrecer resiliencia, solidaridad e incluso alegría en tiempos marcados por la dificultad y el dolor. Invitamos a las comunidades de ambos lados de la frontera a reunirse en este espacio compartido de aprendizaje, reflexión y construcción colectiva de nuevas visiones.
